An hour later on the moving day, there is still a lot of tension in the apartment. The stage directions also make it feel as if there is greyish lighting. Walter Lee is by himself, sitting at the table reflecting on his actions. Asagai comes over to the apartment to help pack, and Beneatha is talking about how she doesn't want to be a doctor anymore because she feels that she can't help people anymore. She also talks about how she has no desire to fight for independence from French and English colonizers. When she says this Asagai confronts her on her lack of idealism and obsession with money from Walter Sr’s death. He then talks about how he wants to go back to Africa to bring “positive changes” When he says this Beneatha gets excited and Asaigai offers Beneatha to come with him to Africa.
